Learning Letters with Peel n’ Stick Baseplates

As the mom of a preschooler and soon to be homeschooling kindergartener I have recently become obsessed with finding ways that our toys can double up as learning tools. When I saw the Peel n’ Stick Baseplates from Creative QT I knew these would be the perfect learning tool. I also thought that they would be a lot of fun to play with.

It’s kind of ironic that a couple of years ago I actually felt bad about myself as a mother. I was so down on myself. I was feeling like “just a mom” and that wasn’t a good feeling. Then I changed my perspective and started my blog.

The irony here is that I’m diving myself further into that abyss with homeschooling but you know what? I couldn’t be happier. A simple change in perspective changed all of those feelings of being “just” but that story is for another day. On to the Baseplates!

Our First Impression

We loved how big the squares were and the overall concept of transforming any area into a building station. The baseplates seemed very well made and with high quality material. There are many color options available.  I chose white because it would look best in our space. I also love a clean white area to get creative on.

Will could hardly wait to open these and couldn’t wait to put them up on our wall.

I read the instructions and discovered that the sticky part was made of construction grade adhesive and the baseplates would not be able to move easily from surface to surface. Since I planned on using these as a learning tool as well as a toy I decided to move the baseplates to our future homeschool room and proceeded to hang them in there.

Alice loved watching and helping Will make letters.

Hanging the Peel n’ Stick Baseplates

To hang the Peel n’ Stick baseplates we simply peeled the red backing off of the baseplates and placed them where we wanted them to go.

Prior to hanging them we cleaned and prepared our surface with a solution of 50 percent rubbing alcohol and 50 percent water as indicated by the instructions.

Next, I roughly measured the area where I planned to hang them.

Finally, I  marked off guidlines for where I wanted them to go.

After that, I peeled off the backing and placed them onto the wall.

Peel n’ Stick Baseplates and Learning

One thing that I love about this product is that it leaves a lot of room for open ended play and imagination. I love that they enable you to transform any area into a play station and act as a blank canvas allowing your child’s creativity to flow.

So, how did my plan to use this as a learning tool work out?

Will practicing letters on our Peel n’ Stick Baseplates.

Will LOVED constructing letters on these boards. We we able to get hands on with our alphabet and discuss how to build each letter as we went along. Will also enjoyed building structures and hanging them on there as well.

I am so pleased that not only do these offer options for kids to be creative and play, but they also allow them to learn.

Overall Opinion and Impression

I first spotted this product and loved the idea of being able to use this as a learning tool. You can use these to transform any area into a building space for your child to get creative. The product is well made, easy to use, and offers so many possibilities for imagining and learning.

I also love that the creators of this product seem to know what’s important and what it’s like to want to have more meaningful moments with your children. I love that they created these products to help families do just that.

Thanks Creative QT! We had a great time making memories!
