This week are so excited to help PBS KIDS celebrate Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood “Family Week!”
To Help Celebrate Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood “Family Week”!
To help celebrate the occasion we made “Mozies”. This special cookie recipe came to us straight from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood! Be sure to tune in to Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on Friday, September 20th to watch “Making Mozies with Nana.”. In this episode, Daniel Tiger’s friend Jodi Platypus and her Nana bake up some Mozies. This is a recipe Nana used to make with her own Nana when she was a young girl!
Unfortunately, we were not able to include grandparents for this bake session. We did however, write out a very special recipe on our blank recipe card. It’s a very special recipe that has been passed down in our family. The recipe came from Will’s great-grandmother!
To begin we opened our Mozie’s-Making Kit!
In Our Mozie’s-Making Kit!
Included in the kit was:
- Nana’s recipe
- “Daniel’s Sweet Trip to the Bakery” scratch-&-sniff book
- and a super-cute red apron!
With Will’s apron on we were ready to go!
The Recipe from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood
The Ingredients
The ingredients you’ll need to make your own Mozing-mazing cookies are:
- 1 banana, smashed
- 1/2 cup + 1/8 cup oats (rolled oats or quick oats)
- 2 tsp honey
- 1/4 cup shredded, unsweetened coconut
- 1/8 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup raisins
The Directions
Next, we followed the directions!
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix everything together and roll cookie dough into 1 inch balls
- Place cookies 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the cookies are firm to the touch or bounce back when touched.
- Cool cookies for 5 minutes before removing from baking sheet. Cool them for another 5 minutes on a cooling rack or a plate with a paper towel under the cookies to absorb the moisture.
- Cookies should be served warm the day they are made or can be stored in and airtight container overnight at room temperature.
