This year for St. Patrick’s Day my preschooler is on a mission to catch himself a leprechaun. In order to help him along in his search we crafted the cutest tool – rainbow leprechaun binoculars. This craft required some help from mom but it was a great way to gear up for the upcoming holiday.
Materials
You will need:
- Toilet paper rolls
- Felt
- Glue and Glitter
- Paint
- Ribbon
- Hot Glue
- Hole Punch
Painting
The first thing we did was paint the inside of the rolls with shimmery gold fabric paint. Any paint will do but this is what we had on hand.
After the toilet paper rolls dried we added a layer of glue and sprinkled in some green glitter.
Rainbow Strips
While the paint and glue was drying I cut a 1 inch strip from each color of felt (Will has not began cutting yet so this was something I had to do.)
Assembling the Leprechaun Binoculars
After hot gluing the toilet paper rolls together it was time to add the rainbow strips. At first I tried to use fabric glue so that Will could add the strips to the binoculars himself but that wasn’t holding together. The hot glue gun worked perfectly so I helped with that part.
I layered each strip about 1.5 centimeters apart.
Adding the Strap
Finally, we punched holes on each side of the binoculars and added our purple ribbon strap.
