This year for Halloween, as a way to celebrate the anniversary of my blog I decided I wanted to give back while also honoring what brought me to blogging in the first place. I got my start in blogging by creating tutorials of our family Halloween costumes. This year I decided I would put a twist on that and make an adaptive costume for a special kid!

Adaptive Costume Winner

Once we chose Laurel as the winner of the adaptive costume giveaway, I called to speak with Laure’s mom, Renee. When I first spoke to Renee, I asked what Laurel was hoping to be for Halloween this year. I never expected the answer to be, ” a chicken.” I was in shock! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You see, for almost an entire year I had been planning a certain costume for my own children, a chicken costume! I had already gathered the materials so that I could begin assembly. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Right before Renee and I spoke, my son, Will, decided that he no longer wanted to be a chicken. Instead, he wanted to be a lamb. I was slightly disappointed about the change but I figured the pieces could go back eventually. I put the pieces to the side and called Renee. That’s when she revealed Laurel’s idea for her costume!⁣⁣

A Twist of Fate

Renee explained to me that Laurel is a farm girl. She and her daughter are known for their chickens. A chicken is exactly what Laurel wanted to wanted to be for Halloween! It was at this point I realized that I had already gathered most of the pieces to make Laurel’s costume dream come true. It’s as if the universe knew that I would make Laurel’s costume. I mean, what are the chances?!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We were brought together and I couldn’t be more grateful and honored.

More About Laurel

Laurel is a sweet little farm girl from New Jersey. She and her mother are well known for their chickens. They have so many on the farm! Ruffles is the special chicken she chose for trick-or-treat duties.

Laurel is an active girl who is involved in many activities. She is a cheerleader, Girl Scout, rides horses, and also makes her own jewelry that she sells as well as runs her own Paparazzi Business!

Laurel’s Mom, Renee, blew me completely away. I could not believe all of the amazing things she does for and with her daughter. It’s really beautiful.
