Uh oh, whats in the box?

We were so grateful and excited to have been invited back to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA. This time for the media preview of Mummies of the World the Exhibition opening October 5th! Our last visit was for DaVinci the Exhibition which we loved!

In my opinion there could be no better time to take my little homeschooling crew to learn more about real Mummies than the month of October!

What We Loved about Mummies of the World

Super cool real mummies, interactive portions of the exhibit, and lots of learning packed into one exciting experience!

Face to Face With Mummies

Will was so excited! He could not wait to come face to face with real human and animal mummies for the very first time!

First, he learned some new and exciting words such as hieroglyphics, and sarcophagus. He also saw and learned the difference between mummies made by nature and mummies made by man.

A Favorite Spot

Both kids had a favorite exhibit in Mummies of the World. Their favorite spot was an interactive map. This map illuminates different portions of the world. The illuminated portions are areas of the world in which mummies are naturally made by nature. Both kids enjoyed trying to light the entire map up all at one time!

Will and Alices favorite Exhibit!

Sensory Action

There is another great exhibit in Mummies of the World for preschool/kindergarten age kids. It is a sensory board containing different textures. Here you are able to touch and feel different mummy types. They loved feeling the different textures consequently making this a favorite.

The Finale Room

Johannes Orlovits Mummified by Nature

Lastly, the finale room of the exhibition contains a mummified baby. This portion of the Exhibition was the Orlovits family from Germany. The Orlovits family died from Tuberculosis and were mummified by nature.
